in my research into Norse theology, i know that the gods of Scandinavia were soldiers and really considered no better than men, just immortal and usually vastly powerful. As for the christian saints, ask the christians. As for Saints appearance in heraldry, there were a few angels on some crests, but mostly a herald was a represtentaion of family, a nametag, not to communicate one's belifs but thier bloodlines.
