The Photos
Group PhotoThe Winter Althing was held December 30th 1995 at West Point on the Hudson. The atmosphere of the building (West Points original train station) was well suited for the event. The vaulted ceiling with exposed timber trusses and wood chairs and tables made for a warm setting. Attendees feasted on an authentic meal of roasted lamb, duck, breads, cheeses and soup. It was agreed that the food was outstanding and enjoyed by all. After the meal a few members were brave enough to taste strawberry and cranberry mead brewed by Wargs of Woden member Kieth Rauchnouk. It was quite an experience and it tasted totally different than the commercially available mead.
The CommandersJames Flandreau and Tony Horler demonstrated their newfound skill at chainmail construction to those who have not seen the process before. The formal Althing included discussions concerning the upcoming Summer Althing 1996. Any suggestions or affiliations concerning a site to hold the event are welcome. Please contact a Commander with any information. |
