AttireGeneralAs a minimum pants and shirt should be the first items made or acquired. It is recommended that if you don't have knowledge of sewing, work with someone who has already made such items. Always make things larger than you think they need to be (they can always be tucked, rolled or belted). If you have difficulty in making attire refer to your faction supplement or Journeymember for guidance. In choosing colors of clothing try to match colors to sample fabrics. The NMA has as one of its goals to make all events as realistic as possible. It takes time and effort to create a good outfit so don't hesitate to ask for help in this process. As always items can be made available for purchase or trade from other members to those who are not capable or don't wish to make their own attire. Please study patterns and material samples carefully. If youre not sure about a color or fabric type get a sample piece of fabric and submit it to your Journeymember for appropriate approvals. Living HistoryLoose fitting linen or wool shirt Tunic, Surcoat or Jerkin Period Trousers or loose fitting pants. Leather shoes or boots (many lower classes wore no shoes, so keep it simple). Women may wear a dress and appropriate overgarmets. CombatantStandard Living History attire noted is recommended to be worn as a base. Additional items as required shall be worn as outlined in "Combatant - Armour Specifications" & form No. 105 Combatant - Required Protection. It is recommended that all attire be as close to period as possible while maintaining safety at all times. If denim pants are worn for combat they should be black, brown or an appropriate green.
